Tramlines–Sunday Part 1!

Tramlines Sunday Part 1 (1 of 28).jpg

Day 3 of Tramlines and I’m still having a blast.  Have decided to base myself at the Main Stage today, mainly for The Futureheads and Ash who are on later tonight.

When I got there I got a complete shock – I picked up a copy of Tramlines Times, a free newspaper published by the festival each day, and was amazed (and thrilled) to see my photo on the front cover!  The photo is the one I took of the drummer of the Crookes on Friday night.  You can see how good it looks on the front cover and can see the original here.  I have to say I am really chuffed to be on the front, especially as I am one of about 30 photographers working for Tramlines this weekend!

I had intended to get to the Main Stage for the start of the 1st band of the day, The Everly Pregnant Brothers, a Sheffield ukulele band.  I was 5 minutes late and I really regretted it because the ‘Brothers were simply superb.  They performed a set of cover versions reimagined in a very Sheffield / Yorkshire way and they were hilarious.  If I had just moved up to Sheffield from “darn sarf” today rather than 7 years ago I wouldn’t have understood a word of it.  But as I can interpret Yorkshire into English in real time in my brain now I managed to keep up with the gags and was literally laughing out loud during their whole set.

So annoyingly I missed the opportunity of getting in the press pit to take some photos of them so you will have make do with the worst photos from me from the whole festival for them:

And yes that is Toby Foster you can see playing Uke as well as the Everly Pregnant Sisters dressed up as bottles of Hendos (Henderson’s Relish, Sheffield’s superior version of Worcester Sauce). Also in the band is the artist Pete McKee but because I am ashamed to say I didn’t know what he looked like I didn’t take his photo.

So enough of the comedy pictures, here are some proper front-cover-of-The-Tramlines-Times-quality photos!  First up is the 2nd band on The Dead Sons.  They recently supported the Artic Monkeys and you could tell, they were similar, but pretty good I thought.

I then went for a wander and got some misc crowd and people shots. Yesterday when I told people I was photographing for the Tramlines Times I didn’t really believe that any of my photos would make it in the newspaper.  But today I actually said it with confidence!

The 3rd band on the main stage is The Crookes who I obviously shot on Friday so I decided to nip back to the Uni to write this blog post and upload my photos.  I’m going to head back now and catch The Phantom Band
