As promised, here is part 2 of my Tramlines Saturday blog.
Today I was on assignment for Tramlines Times and had to make sure I covered two acts. Neither of which were my thing really.
The first was I Monster in the City Hall Ballroom. I Monster, along with some friends, sound-tracked a 1968 short film called “Whistle and I’ll Come to You” which starred voice of Paddington Bear Michael Horden (now if this had been a sound-tracking to an episode of Paddington then I think it would have been much better!).
This whole performance, and that of the even worse Hoarse Verse who preceded I Monster and provided some of the musicians for the I Monster performance, struck me as music as performance art. A bit too poncy and lacking in good tunes for my liking really. What was even worse about the performance was that the lighting was awful for photography.
But I took some OK shots and uploaded them well within my deadline. Here is a selection of the best of the bad bunch:
The next act on my assignment list were the much better The Lost Brothers in Sheffield Cathedral. I have to say that as a venue the Cathedral is brilliant – very atmospheric with perfect acoustics. The Lost Brothers were a folky-Eerley-Brothers-esque duo who although pleasant enough weren’t great. But again I captured the required shots:
Coming up next – the local yoof having it large with DJ Stoaty at the Octagon followed by Miss Dynamite-tee-hee!
