Tramlines 2012–Friday

I have had a great 1st night at Tramlines 2012.

I based myself in The Bowery all night and because I was shooting Alt-J, the headline act and latest indie-darlings.  Because they are pretty popular for a new band, I was in the Bowery from 7:30PM to get a spot at the front.

I’d never shot in the Bowery before and I was shocked at just how bad the lighting was – almost none-existent which made for very challenging conditions – luckily I had my flash gun with me but that rather killed the atmosphere…

First up were Cave Painting who I only caught for their last song. Thought they were rather good actually:

Next up were Kult Country.  Thought they were OK but they were a bit too much drone noise and not enough tunes for my liking (a bit Spaceman 3 / My Bloody Valentine-esque):

Third on the bill were G R E A T W A V E S who were more of the same noise and not my cup of tea at all: Simon Butler - G R E A T W A V E S - The Bowery - Friday Simon Butler - G R E A T W A V E S - The Bowery - Friday

Finally, it was the turn of the headliners, Alt-J.  I thought they were great with lots of really catchy tunes.  The crowd loved them too!
