A great night out with some photographers

Last night I had a rare Sunday night out with some fellow photographers. We met up for a few drinks to talk photography, camera settings and general photo geekerie – I enjoyed it immensely. 

We ended up in The Harley to take some gig photos, a first for me.  I was told by the others – all of whom were very experienced gig photographers – that  the lighting in the Harley was not normally conducive to good photography and you usually needed to use flash to mitigate the red lights.  It was at that moment that I regretted leaving my flash at home…

So, here are my first ever gig photos.   They were tricky mainly because neither band had a vocalist so there was no real front man.  Plus the lighting was difficult and I struggled with AF in the dark.

First up is the support band called Cobra Fist (I think they were supposed to look like ninjas and  were not as I mistakenly thought wearing hijabs!):
