I helped organise a big event at work and by default I became the official photographer. Was the first time I'd ever done anything like this on such a large scale. So it was a challenge but one I enjoyed. Was especially challenging for a number of reasons. I still don't have a replacement 50mm lens yet (latest estimate is that I will receive it late this week or early next). My zoom lens is really slooooooowwwww. And the speakers had half of their faces covered by part of the projector image which made it tough to take decent shots of their faces.
But despite these issues I think I coped OK. I tried to concentrate on interesting compositions and try to use thirds a lot. It also helped that I borrowed a 28mm f/1.8 prime which worked well. As good as that lens was I am so used to the extra reach of my 50mm that I found it difficult to frame people without getting too close and alerting them to my presence. So candids were a challenge. Anyway, enough waffle from me, on to the photos:

2 is a bloody great docu shoot.
ReplyDeleteI think that you did really well.
I think I would have liked to have spot metered for the part of the face lit by the projector and then underexposed to really give that image a dramatic kick. Worth nothing and perhaps trying next time?
Well done all round.
