"You're all really nice people..."

Celtic Crooner 3, originally uploaded by electrolyte2006.

Had an enjoyable night out last night at the Dog and Partridge on Trippet Lane. Met up with some guys from the flickr Sheffield Group. This was the first in hopefully a regular monthly meet of the group members. A really nice bunch of lads they were too. I am looking forward to the next one already...

The Dog and Partridge is a traditional Irish pub and their main bar was full of guys singing Irish songs. And from the sound of them they had been there for a good few hours! More slurring than singing was going on.

We had commandeered a small side room so that we could chat about cameras and other nerdy stuff without disturbing the singing. One of the singers was the bloke at the top of this post. He was looking for the toilet and staggered into our room by mistake. He promptly sat down and started chatting to us. Well, I say chatted to us, what I really mean is that he drunkenly rambled and we all listened.

He got up to leave a couple of times then came back. On his second visit he proclaimed that "You're are all really nice people, hic". I asked him he minded if I took his photo and he couldn't really understand why I would want to. I said that he looked really photogenic. I don't think he really knew what I was saying. But he eventually said yes. A real character he was - at one point he said he was off home to be shouted at by his missus as he should have been home hours ago. Eventually he staggered off, probably for another pint and we were left to chat photography once more.

Here are a couple more of our Celtic friend:

In the room we were in they had some multi-coloured fairy lights on the ceiling and I started taking some long exposure "painting with light" shots. One of the guys, StarquakeUK aka Paul, took a great shot of the lights out of focus on his camera so I nicked his idea and took this:

OOF Lights

And this is my painting with light shot:

So all in all, a good night out. Beer, good company and photography. What more could you want...?
